As a mental health professional and a suicide survivor himself, Mr. Amaresh Nath talks about how his journey has been through various ups and downs. He, along with MHT India decided to share his survivor story with an intention to reach out to people and as an effort to spread awareness about suicide prevention.
Mr. Amaresh has always been an enthusiast when it comes to talking about mental health care and through this live, he wishes to spread the message that it is not one’s fault to go through any kind of mental illness and one should not be ashamed to talk about it.
He mentions that suicide is not merely ending ones life but it is a cry for help and their last resort to end their suffering. At such difficult time, all society can do is give that person a listening ear and space to recover and feel that he/she is not alone in this.
Mr. Amaresh Nath is a counselling psychologist with 6+ years of experience of providing counselling and coaching to various population groups. He is also an academician; pursuing his PhD from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, and having taught at institutions like TISS, Guwahati, and Pune Institute of Business Management, Pune.
Apart from his professional life, Amaresh is also a foodie, storyteller, ardent traveller, photographer, poet, and a strong seeker of new knowledge. He is also a staunch advocate of mental health wellness and doesn’t miss an opportunity to spread awareness about mental health care. Having overcome concerns like Bipolar Mood Disorder and Borderline Personality himself, he takes a strong stand on taking care of one’s mental health.
