Given the current unrest in our community and how the society views mental health issues like depression, anxiety, stress etc, we at MHT decided to look at the popular social media platforms and see if any of them had put out any content for the same. Media is a big contributor to awareness-building amongst the people, especially the youth and the team thought, why not see the content that is currently available for viewing.
The first video, with 2M plus views, that came up in our research on YouTube was ‘A Story with Depression’ by FilterCopy. We saw the video and were awed with the portrayal of this otherwise stigmatized disorder and the efforts put in by the actors, writer, director and the whole crew, in making this so relatable.
The MHT team reached out to them and Ms Preksha and Ms Pallavi graciously agreed to come to MHT Live and talk about how this video is close to both their hearts.
Watch this MHT Live to know how they choose ‘depression’ as the theme, the scriptwriting journey, from casting to directing, we discuss it all. We also talk about their personal lives, their encounter with this mental health disorder and also about media and it’s portrayal of the same.

Watch the Video: FilterCopy | A Story about Depression
A Story about Depression follows the life of Armaan, who appears to be cheerful and energetic on the outside, but deals with loneliness, anxiety and depression in the moments he spends alone with himself. Through the video, we see him juggle between this outside persona and his internal struggle, which heightens throughout, culminating in him getting exhausted. The video ends with him finally confiding in the one person he is closest to and accepts his need for help.
