Samaritans Mumbai is a suicide prevention helpline working as an NGO based out of Mumbai, India. A safe space for individuals who are distressed, depressed or even suicidal. It is a helpline that offers unconditional support and empathy through trained volunteers for free from 5PM to 8PM (IST). Ms. Ahana Sharma, a volunteer at Samaritans Mumbai, joins MHT Live where she shares much more about the organisation: Samaritans. In this MHT Live, explore the concept of empathetic listening and how it can support someone in distress. Parents of children with distress can also learn about simple steps toward improving and discussing mental health related issues with their children.

Ms. Ahana Sharma is a counseling psychologist based out of Mumbai. As a mental health therapist, she specialises in the eclectic approach (modifiable depending on client and their needs) with focus on person-centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in addition to inputs from Gestalt and Existential and Behavioural therapy exercises.
