The Truth about PMS and Mental Health | Therapy for Thought – Ep. 11

The link between PMS and mental health has been well known with the help of medical research. Behavioural and emotional symptoms such as moodiness, sadness, irritability and anger are quite prevalent amongst people around their periods. This podcast episode is in collaboration with Ms. Haveesha Buddhdev, a mental health professional from India, and Ms Shivangi from Girl Up Mukti.

GirlUp Mukti is an organisation in affiliation with GirlUp, a UN recognized group that actively works to secure equal opportunities for underprivileged adolescent girls in developing countries. An inclusive organization, GirlUp Mukti envisions a world where women are empowered, and our future is brighter because of it. The organisation mainly focuses on clustering a team of dedicated individuals who are fully supported to working for the cause across the regional community it is based in, thereby making the world better one small place at a time.

Ms. Haveesha Buddhdev along with Ms Shivangi from GirlUp Mukti come together on this podcast episode to bust some myths and reinstate some truths about what women and other genders go through during PMS and how it affects their mental health. 

About Miss Shivangi

Shivangi is a final year student of B.A. English Honours at Christ University, Bengaluru, and is a member of GirlUp Mukti. She believes in working ardently to break stereotypes brought about via societal conditioning and works towards bringing about awareness to dismantle hierarchies in an attempt to make the world a better place. Apart from all the seriousness, she reads a lot, is a food lover, and is trying to love herself a little more everyday.
